As Disney+ enters its fourth year of streaming, plenty of original series, iconic reboots, and hit movies will be available. Several fan-favorite superheroes, musical Muppets, and a beloved princess are about to premiere upcoming seasons, while others are getting new seasons.
More Marvel Cinematic Universe favourites will also be available on the magical streaming service. This includes a box office hit, as well as new seasons starring everyone’s favorite singing high schoolers and the loudest and loudest teenage girl of all time for 2023.
Although notable Muppets like Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Fozzie Bear have starred in several shows over the years, Electric Mayhem has not been featured prominently.
‘The Muppets Mayhem’ – May 2023
The Muppets Mayhem follows Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem as they record their first album. When the new series premieres in May 2023, the musical Muppets will be joined by live actors, including YouTuber-turned-actor Lilly Singh as their manager, Tahj Mowry as their superfan, plus Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong as guests.
‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 – March 1, 2023
A popular Star Wars series dubbed “Baby Yoda,” The Mandalorian premiered on Disney+ in 2019 as the first live-action Star Wars series.
After over two years without a new season, leaving fans hanging with that Season 2 finale post-credits scene, the third season is finally set to hit Disney+ on March 1, 2023 after previously being slated for February, so fans will not have to wait for a while to see what happens to Boba Fet, Grogu and Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin.
‘The Proud Family: Louder And Prouder’ Season 2 – January 7, 2023
In 2022, Disney+ rebooted The Proud Family, which ran on Disney Channel for two seasons in the early 2000s. In The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, Kyla Pratt reprises her role as Penny Proud, now a teenager living in the 2020s.
It was announced that the reboot has returned for a second season on January 7, 2023, following a memorable first season. Disney XD’s new season will premiere linearly on Disney Channel on January 8, 2023.
‘Magic Of Disney’s Animal Kingdom’ Season 2 – January 1, 2023
Taking place in Disney’s Animal Kingdom and at EPCOT SeaBase in Florida, Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a National Geographic series narrated by Frozen star Josh Gad.
On National Geographic, the two-episode Season 2 premiere starring beloved giraffes and sea turtles starts on New Year’s Day 2023, then watch all 10 new episodes on Disney+ showcasing the wildlife of Walt Disney World as part of Disney’s 100th-anniversary celebration on January 4, 2023.
‘Loki’ Season 2 – mid-2023
Following the events of Avengers Endgame, Loki received his own Disney+ series that followed him on his journey to stepping out of his brother’s shadow. This led him to embark on his own journey.
The second season of Loki is expected to premiere in mid-2023, following the success of Loki’s first season. No official synopsis has yet been released. It will feature six new episodes, starring Tom Hiddleston, Rafael Casal, Ke Huy Quan, and Kate Dickie as undisclosed characters.
‘X-MEN ’97’ – Fall 2023
In 2019, Disney bought 21st Century Fox, acquiring the rights to both X-Men and Fantastic Four, and the all-new X-Men ’97 series was born. It was an interesting turn of events.
Disney+ will premiere the animated series in Fall 2023, serving as a sequel to 1992’s X-Men: The Animated Series as well as the first time the original voice actors will reprise their X-Men roles since 2000’s Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ – 2023
The 30th Marvel movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hit theaters in November 2022 to major box office success following the passing of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is currently being teased as “coming soon to Disney+” on its landing page on the streaming service, expected to arrive sometime in 2023, if you’re not-so-patiently looking forward to watching it again from the comfort of your own home.
‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ Season 4 – 2023
One of the first original series on the streaming service, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series took off just as much as the DCOMs it was based on. A highly anticipated fourth season of the series has been announced, which stars Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett.
The fourth season will follow the Wildcats as they return to school after an epic summer and prepare to put on a production of High School Musical 3: Senior Year, while High School Musical 4: The Reunion begins filming at East High featuring Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel, Alyson Reed, Kaycee Stroh, and Bart Johnson.
‘Marvel’s What If?’ Season 2 – 2023
In 2021, Marvel What If…? launched an animated series that followed beloved characters on journeys that never actually occurred, but provided viewers with answers to all those what-ifs. Each episode reimagines memorable events from the Marvel franchise and begs the question of, what if something had turned out differently for certain characters?
There has been no announcement of a release date for Season 2. However, it is expected to air in early 2023 and will present more questionable tales from the Multiverse. Meanwhile, season 3 is in development.
‘Tiana’ – 2023
In an effort to bring more diversity to their theme parks, the Walt Disney Company re-themed Splash Mountain to center around Tiana after retiring the Song of the South theme from its famous log flume in Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Princess and the Frog have made waves over the last few years.
Disney+ will premiere Tiana, an animated series starring the princess as a sequel to the 2009 movie, in 2023, along with the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride.
