Their constant side-eye and aloof behavior always make me laugh. I can understand why people love them so much. Well, here’s some good news: there’s a capybara cafe you can visit, and no, it’s not in Tokyo (it’s actually much closer than you think).
Capyba Cafe is Johor! It’s JB’s first capybara cafe, located in Skudai just 30 minutes away from the checkpoint.
We all know JB has a variety of animal cafes, from adorable dogs to chubby cats and even fluffy ducks, so it’s no surprise that a capybara cafe has found its way to Malaysia.
The cafe features a minimalist interior with white furnishings and a few capybara posters displayed in the space. They’ve kept the decor simple because the real stars of the show are actually in the back.
You’ll get to meet two adorable capybaras just waiting to be greeted by you. While the cuddly creatures have their own food and water in their pen, you can always ask the staff for treats like carrots to earn extra cuddles.
On the menu, you’ll find the usual cafe fare, including mains, bagels, sandwiches, and shareable sides. Featured by online netizens, you can enjoy Mentaiko Tamagoyaki Sando and Jiggly Pudding for just $4.90.
Saying goodbye to the capybaras at the end of your visit can be tough, so consider stopping by the merchandise section. They offer capybara-themed water bottles, tumblers, and plushies in various designs.
