Games have always existed in a numbers-obsessed industry. Sega vs. Nintendo defined a generation in the ’90s, whereas today’s comparatively mild console wars. Nintendo’s Switch has been one of its most successful and influential systems. Carrying a console-quality gaming device wherever you go has its own unique appeal. Figuring out what to play, though—that’s getting harder every year, as the roster of first-party and indie games grows deeper and deeper.
Thankfully, Lobangsiah’s team has many opinionated Nintendo fans which is why we’ve come up with this list of Best Nintendo Switch Games of All Time:
1. Xenoblade Chronicles
Take on the role of your character in the world of Aionios, a world where war is a constant part of life. You’ll be accompanied by others in your party as you venture through the world in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Each party consists of up to six characters from two opposing nations. Brought together by a common goal to find their true enemy, you can easily switch between the characters to freely explore the world of Aionios.
With this best Nintendo Switch game, you’ll be able to strategize how to best utilize each character’s strengths and weaknesses to defeat all of your enemies. Whether you’re a healer, attacker, or defender, you can use the Interlink system to combine two people into an Ouroboros. Besides being a larger form, the powers and abilities will be greatly enhanced. Taking down enemies will be no big feat when you’re an Ouroboros in Xenoblade Chronicles 3!
2. Digimon Survive
In July 2022, Digimon Survive was released on PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. Digimon has had intriguing narratives tied to it since, at the very least, the original anime Digimon Adventure. As compared to other monster series, this was and still is one of its strongest suits, as it focuses on connections, twists, and turns that appeal to a broad audience and satisfy hardcore fans alike.
The latest Digimon games offered fascinating takes on the franchise, despite not all pieces of the franchise being created equal. Series producer Kazumasa Habu opted to test the waters and see if games aimed at a young adult audience would sell well. This new focus was evident in titles such as Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth and its midquel, Hacker’s Memory.
With Digimon Survive, the team plans to go one step further and test the boundaries of what the franchise can do. With death and survival in another world as themes, it’s aiming for a darker tone. Characters may die depending on your choices, and the young kids will have to face some dire situations that may put players on edge.
3. 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim
13 Sentinels, which plays sort of like a point-and-click adventure with branching dialogue options, is only half of the game. As well as a real-time strategy game, the game has a wiki that expands on what was introduced in the advent. There’s a whole can of worms here that you can learn about in our original review, but one thing to note for the Switch port: The strategy elements looked a little funky on a 4K TV, but fit perfectly on the smaller portable Switch screen.
4. Fire Emblem
Fire Emblem Warriors introduces you to a group of characters from throughout the franchise’s history. Not only will you love getting a chance to play as them again, but you’ll also see them interact with each other. We don’t want to spoil anything for you but suffice it to say if you’re a diehard fan of the franchise, you don’t want to miss the surprises here.
5. Lego Star Wars
The Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga allows players to relive the nine core “Star Wars” movies. Families will enjoy the game’s humor and co-op elements.
Players can begin with “The Phantom Menace,” “A New Hope,” or “The Force Awakens.” As they complete episodes, new ones are unlocked. People who spent their childhoods playing “Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga” may notice some huge differences with this game.
The game design has been revamped entirely. Rather than being a simple beat-’em-up with puzzles, “Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga” adds features such as melee combos and amiable force abilities and weapons.
There are now five levels instead of six in each episode. Levels take between 10 and 20 minutes to complete on average.
6. Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition
The reveal of Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition. Included would be a remaster of Chrono Cross, the sequel to the legendary console RPG Chrono Trigger, and the first release of Radical Dreamers. It had everything a fan of console RPGs could want at the time: great visuals, outstanding music, and an amazing story with unforgettable characters.
