It’s not an everyday thing you see sushi or tacos on a food court menu. Yishun is one of Singapore’s most happening neighbourhoods, and Kenji Taco Sushi has a creation that marries the two – taco sushi, to be exact.
Under-the-radar food court stall at Kopitiam in Northpoint City is run by the team behind Fuji Izakaya Bar & KTV, an izakaya-style Japanese restaurant in the neighbouring HomeTeamNS Khatib.
Kenji Taco Sushi, which debuted at Singapore Comic Con 2022 as an F&B vendor, serves taco sushi — crispy deep-fried seaweed taco shells layered with sushi rice and a choice of toppings (cooked, raw, and vegetarian). With two toppings starting at S$7.80, you can create your own taco sushi, including Prawn, Chuka Wakame, Salmon, and Snow Crab Leg. You can top it off with sauces like Mentai, Takoyaki, and Garlic Butter.
If not, the curated Taco Sushi menu featuring eight flavours will suffice.
The Truffle Scallop (S$5.80) features raw scallops and truffle mayo, while the Spicy Salmon (S$6.90) features diced salmon sashimi, spicy mayo, and sesame seeds. The good news doesn’t end there. Additionally, you can slurp down fresh and plump Japanese Hyogo oysters (from S$3.90 per piece). The most value can be found in buying 12 pieces for S$39.60.
Although the stall is not halal-certified, all ingredients used are from its second outlet in Northpoint City’s halal Bagus food court, which is Muslim-friendly.
