Dyson Zone: What it is and How it works
According to a Dyson press release, the Dyson Zone is a set of “air-purifying headphones” designed to combat urban air pollution and noise pollution.
Through a dual-layer filtration system, the noise-canceling over-ear headphones are attached to a contact-free face visor that delivers clean air to the nose and mouth of the user.
A new press release states that the Dyson Zone was developed for six years by an international team in the UK, Singapore, Malaysia, and China.
In the device, electrostatic filters capture 99.9% of particle pollution as small as 0.1 microns, as well as carbon filters for capturing pollutants associated with city air, such as nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide.
It takes three hours to become fully charged, and it can run for 50 hours of audio-only operation or four hours of purification and audio operation on a single charge.
March 2023 is expected in Singapore
There will only be a launch of Dyson Zone in March 2023 in Singapore, the U.S., UK, and Hong Kong for those eager to get their hands on one.
In Southeast Asia, Singapore will be the first to experience the new product.
According to The Verge, the Dyson Zone is expected to cost approximately US$949 (S$1,282), although this has not yet been confirmed by Dyson.
Although the Dyson Zone purifies the air, Wired reported in March 2022 that it was not intended to replace surgical face masks.
