What Is Stress?
Whenever there is a change that causes physical, emotional, or psychological strain, stress is a natural human response. Human bodies are designed to feel stress and adapt to it. As a result of changes or obstacles (stressors), the body produces physical and emotional reactions.
When you are faced with new circumstances, your body responds by producing stress responses. Positive stress keeps us alert, motivated, and ready to face danger. An individual’s heart rate, breathing pattern, vision, and more are controlled by the autonomic nervous system during times of stress.
The body’s built-in stress response, the “fight-or-flight response,” helps the body cope with stressful situations. By using stress-management strategies on a daily basis, you can resolve the common physical, mental, and behavioral symptoms of stress.
